Restoration

From a simple re-cloth to complete restoration – We’re at your service.

Master restorers – with almost 40 years experience in Antique billiard table restoration, we have had the pleasure of working on countless beautiful and historic tables.

Some tables will have been stored for years, and require significant repair and renovation – replacing or repairing cracked slates, twisted frames, and missing or damaged legs, mouldings, carvings and inlay.

Others will need only minor repairs and a good cut-back and polish.

In every case, our craftsmen approach the work with the same care, and attention to detail as they do in making or installing a new table.

If your table needs more attention than one of our fitters can give it, they will take photos and report back to the workshop about the table in detail.

It may be that one of our table makers would be able to fix an issue on-site – making minor repairs, such as scratches or dents, sanding or polishing to remove marks and blemishes. We will always discuss the best option for you.

Should the table need to dismantled and brought to our workshops for some detailed attention, or major renovation, Our fitters regularly disassemble and remove tables, and are trained to do so with care. Once in our workshops the table can be restored to it’s former glory or, if you prefer, transformed to new glory with a change of finish, additional details, or simply a new cloth.

There are many jobs that can be carried out on site – many tables will just want a refurbish – with a new cloth – perhaps a change of colour – replacement cushion rubbers, and maybe pocket nets…

Our professional fitters have experience installing antique and vintage pool tables, dual-purpose dining tables and full-size antique snooker tables, as well as our many bespoke tables. They are experts in stretching a new bed cloth, re-clothing cushions, and replacing nets and rubbers.

They can often make many minor repairs in-situ, and can ‘reset’ an installed table, tightening fixings and the frame, levelling the playing slate, and marking it up – as if it had been just installed.

Re-clothing

If your pool or snooker table cloth is faded, thread-bare or damaged, it could well be time for a re-cloth – a great opportunity to renovate your table. It’s also a great opportunity to consider a new colour – which is often the simplest way to transform a table…

Our west of England wool cloth of choice is made by Hainsworth – and as well as traditional green, and a couple of colours that are made especially for us – there are different 20 colours in both their Smart and Elite-pro ranges.

The Smart range is wool rich with deep colours and a lovely feel, and is ideal for UK pool or (non-traditional) snooker tables. These games are traditionally played on a woollen cloth with a directional nap.

If your table only needs the bed-cloth changing – we’ll probably be able to find a colour that matches the cushion cloth – as long as they aren’t especially faded, and the original cloth isn’t an especially unusual colour.

If you do want, or need to have the cushions re-clothed as well, it may be a good time to renew the rubbers as well – though by no means necessary, new rubbers can have a remarkable effect on game play – especially for old or little used tables.

Whichever colour and level of service you require, our professional fitters will fit it with care and skill, before will mark up the table precisely for your favourite game, and leaving it ready for play.

This wool-rich cloth plays slightly slower than US equivalents that use worsted cloth, and Hainsworth’s Elite-pro range is a great choice for players that want a super smooth cloth, for high-speed games – whatever size or style of table, whichever game you play.  Elite-pro is also a good choice for client’s wanting to personalise their table with a printed cloth.

You can find out more details and see both ranges on Hainsworth’s Website here.

Let us know which colours you like, and we’ll be happy to send you samples swatches of your favourite options…
